birke + burgers

Last night was a whole bunch of fun - a barrel of monkeys' worth, if you will. I got all dolled up (in something that wasn't black!), and we headed out to our friend Tony's Senior Art show reception at Marshall University's Birke Art Gallery.
Halfway there, realized that we didn't plan out dinner, or even think about it. We figured that it was probably important that we did, so we headed to Java Joint, on of our favorite places in Htown. Their food (and coffee) is amazing, and the prices are even better. Plus, they can make pretty much anything vegetarian or vegan, which is a definite plus for E. Locally owned, operated and they serve organic and fair trade coffee? Yes please! I decided to branch out and try something new, so I chose the Greek veggie burger. I was a homemade patty on a really nice bun, and was topped with feta, red onion, spinach and balsamic vinegar, plus potato chips on the side. The burger was really good and filling, a nice combo. I ate about a quarter of the chips, which took a lot of inner strength, since they were so good. I did steal a couple of forkfuls of E's side salad and about a tablespoon of sauerkraut of of his Kielbasa plate. So totally worth it!

We rushed into the gallery just in time to hear the artists' presentations. The work was incredible, and each artist obviously poured their soul in every piece. I'm really glad we were able to be there, and celebrate Tony's achievements with him and his family.

Plus, a nice spread of food -this was definitely a look, but don't touch situation, and I didn't have a single thing.

Instead, I came home to my favorite nighttime snack of all - a warm Deep Chocolate VitaMuffin and a cold mug of milk - delish!

I was ridiculously impressed by the senior show the other night! Between Tony's work (which was amazing) and Will receiving a degree AND a patent in the same month, it was an experience!
